Appearance: The first thing one notices is Konata's height, or rather, the lack thereof. She is barely 4'8" and very childish in appearance. This, combined with her lack of any sort of feminine figure, gets her mistaken for a grade schooler often.

She has blue hair nearly as long as she is tall and an "antenae"-like cowlick. Her eyes are large, green, and she has a prominent mole under her left eye. Adding to her strange appearance is the fact that she's almost always smiling her trademark smile that's shaped like a "3" laying on its side. How on Earth her mouth got like that is a mystery, but in a way, it's endearing.

When it comes to clothing, Konata doesn't care about fashion. She'll wear what's comfortable and fitting to her no matter what.

Personality + Strengths + Weaknesses
Personality: Konata makes up for size in personality. She's witty, carefree, and outgoing. If she wants to have fun, by God she'll have it. And so will everyone around her, even if they didn't plan on it.

Her personality comes from her love of the hobbies she cherishes: anime and video games. She's an unaplogetic otaku and a frequent con-goer since she was a toddler. Her opinion on the newest shows and comics is sought by everyone. She takes reality with a grain of salt; she'd much rather play RPGs and watch Haruhi than do homework. Despite all of this, Konata is a good friend and a kind person.

She just tends to go a bit overboard.
Abilities: She doesn't look like it, but Konata is actually a skilled athelete. She's easily the fastest in her class. However, she hates physical activity.

Because of her time spent playing games over the internet, she's a computer wiz. Not exactly a hacker, though. She has a sense of humour about her and a vast knowledge of useless fandom information. Question about an obscure 80s anime? Need to know the names of the original 150 Pokémon? You've come to the right place. She's also pretty smart about other stuff, too. She doesn't care about that as much.

And her looking like a little girl? Yeah, she knows she does and she's not afraid to exploit it, for things like discounts on movie tickets. According to her, the flat-chest is in demand and a status symbol.
Weaknesses: Konata doesn't think about the consequences of her actions. She is a slacker with twisted priorities (such as valuing video games prowess more than excelling in school). "Normal" people baffle her to no end, what with their "going outside" and "playing sports for pleasure".

She is very particular about her hobbies, such as being angry when baseball is held over extra innings and runs into anime timeslots. In addition, she must, in her own words, turn on her Nintendo DS at least once a day in order to sleep well.

History
Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider.
History: Izumi Konata was born on May 28 to Izumi Sōjirō and Kanata. Kanata, Konata's mother, died soon after she was born. This left Sōjirō to raise their daughter on his own. He did a good job, all things considering, but he knew nothing of children. So, he raised Konata on what he loved. Things like anime, manga, and games. The girl devoured them and became as big of a fan as her father. It did give them something to bond over, even if that something was hentai games.

Neverless, she grew up with this unorthodox childhood. When she reached high school, she met her three closest friends, Hiiragi Tsukasa and her twin sister Kagami and Takara Miyuki. Konata grew especially close to Kagami, whom she nicknamed Kagamin. Kagami is the opposite of Konata; organized, studious, and responsible. Despite all this and Kagami's dislike of Konata's habits at times, the two develop a strong bond. So strong that in the series, it is hinted it might go beyond friendship.

Lucky Star is a slice-of-life anime, so there is no overrunning plot arc. Its premise is the everyday life of the four school girls. Throughout the episodes, we see Konata's various anime fangirlings, her trips to conventions and comic shops, even her getting a part-time job at a cosplay cafe. The series ends with the four friends in senior year, right after a dance performance at the school's culture festival.

A few days before final exams, Konata fell asleep in front of her computer. When she woke up, she had been spirited away into an adventure of video game proportions.
